Twitch Creative Streams and Updates

Every month, I’d like to start adding a poll so that you guys can vote on what you would like to see for my Twitch creative. You can find my polls on my Twitter account. I’ll try to keep the poll open for a few days so people have time to get in their say!

My Twitch gaming schedule is every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. CST and I have my other days sprinkled through when I can. Sunday’s, however, are set in stone and you can catch me each week on this day!

Just to let you all know, you can find my previous year’s audiobooks right here on my website, or on Soundcloud or YouTube. Those will be starting back up this year, along with my occasional Podcasts between conventions. I’m excited to announce that I will be attending a few conventions this year, and will be posting a schedule soon!

If you are a fan of my books, you can follow me on Amazon to catch updates as I release them each year. My sci-fi book is due for release sometime this year, and my book 3 in the Hell’s Gate Series is TBD. (updates coming soon)

Every once in a while, I just like to make these reminder posts for people that may have an interest in checking out my work stuffesses. 🙂

Btw, you can vote now on Twitter for my next creative stream!

Next up, is my keto recipe for keto cornbread stuffing! Have a great day, guys!

Christmas Carols, Baking, and Twitch

Hi guys! If you haven’t noticed, my Tuesday comics are back up. Next year will start my new audio stories. If you missed this year’s, you can find them here.

Typically I prefer to do my weekly comics and then a blog style comic. Most of my blogs pertain to food, comics, and the occasional movie review if I feel strongly about it.

Due to how time-intensive my audio stories are and the fact that I want them to be perfect (since I use sound effects, voices, etc.) I typically don’t release more than 10 a year.

So, I’ll be doing the blog style comics every once in a while, but always sticking with my Tuesday schedule.

1436268496494Twitch

If you didn’t know, I’m normally live every Sunday on Twitch from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. I mostly play games, but I also do creative days too where I draw, bake, or make cosplay. 🙂

I’ll be on this Sunday, the 24th at my regularly scheduled time to play games, bake a pie, and sing a christmas carol or two. See you there. ❤

Stay creepy, (and festive!)

Comics are starting back up

For those of you that noticed, my comics have stopped for a while because I was dedicating my time to video editing my short film, Black, finishing the last edits on Hell’s Gate: Resurgence, and entering in NaNoWriMo. I also have been doing lives on Twitch and putting up audio stories and books on Youtube.

But the comics for me are a real way of expressing not only my daily joys and frustrations but a real form of release. I find it exciting to make other people laugh. Call it whatever you will, but I see so much crap online all the time that I find it my civic duty to make others laugh. If I don’t, I end up being this tightly wound ball of bitterness mixed with anxiety. I’ve decided that comics are a very real way for me to share with others. I generally enjoy making two types of comics: The Things My Boyfriend Does (or TTMBD) and life frustrations and silliness. Many, if not all of my comics are based on actual things that have happened to me or have been said to me. Don’t be fooled, because sometimes they are 100% random and plucked from my very demented mind.

Expect the Tuesday schedule to pick back up again. I won’t ever promise an exact time because of the chaos that is my life, but I will always generally have them up before 5. Thanks to everyone that has supported me!

I want to take a moment to also shout out to my Patrons:

  1. Brian and Amy Shader
  2. Seth Bailey
  3. Brent Smith
  4. Robert Vasquez

Without your help, I couldn’t make any of this a reality. Thank you so much! Check out this month’s rewards here.

If you would like to support me, but not become a Patron, you can also send it directly to me.

All of my donations go toward producing better content for all of you. Thanks guys~

If you would like to purchase my art, I will be placing it up in an online store soon! Sometimes, I also draw on Twitch as well and sell what I make. 😀

Whew – An expression for this month

If you have checked out my YouTube, you’ll see I’ve been a busy lady. What is that? Is that music, Ms. Greyson? Why, yes. Yes, it is. I like to experiment and when I create my audio shorts, I tend to find most of my sound effects or use royalty free music. However, occasionally I enjoy making my own things along with the story I write. I love trying different things, and this was another way for me to experiment. The difficult side is finding musicians for vocals! But, worse case scenario, I just pay someone and send my stuff off to them to work their magic. I’m hoping that by accomplishing this, my creative demon is sated.

Currently, I’m working on my NaNoWriMo for 2017. You can follow me, add me as a friend, or get a sneak peek of the story and watch me struggle daily to try and catch up. My dumbass decided to wait too long to start, so I think I’ll probably be crossing the finish line and tripping over my own shoes and fall on my face. Best case scenario there.

So, if you were wondering why I was so quiet on social media, there’s your answer. I’ve taken a short break from Twitch, but I’ll pick it back up once a week again after hell month is over. My next creative twitch was voted on and everyone wanted a drawing vid, so I’ll hang out with all of you and do a little bit of fun painting!

Just a quick update to say I’m not dead yet.

Why Scary Movies Were Banned in My House

I knew I was different when I was a child. That sounds narcissistic as fuck, but it’s true.

Some years ago (when me and my mother were on speaking terms) I remember describing to her in perfect detail what my baby room looked like. Lot’s of violet and stuffed animals with gauze-y white curtains and white furniture. I remember my favorite stuffed animal was a white seal that I liked to bite on the nose. (It felt good on my gums. :3)

My mother blinked a few times and then, being the religious/superstitious woman she was, suggested that angels must have guided me out of my tiny human body into the spiritual realm, throwing me into an out-of-body experience.

aspiebaby

Whoa. Intense.

But, sadly─ my mom was wrong. Because unlike typical accounts of ‘out-of-body’, I didn’t see myself, or outside of my field of vision from the crib. (not to mention, I think it’s all a bunch of horse dung.)

To my mother’s credit, there is something unnerving about a child that not only corrects everything you say, but also tends to be extremely blunt and appears to lack feelings. This was the 90’s folks, and there was nothing more than just talks about ADD. (attention deficit disorder, now more commonly referred to as ADHD) But, alas, her daughter couldn’t have that, because mostly males were diagnosed with it at the time─ let alone any other possible issues.

And so, I was branded─ the Demon Child.

blogcomicimage

Not because I was the spawn of satan, or some- such nonsense, but because I was that man’s daughter.

As you may have guessed, my parents split. Just after I was born, in fact. My mom’s thoughts?

creationisfun

e.g.: me.

I was tirelessly and incessantly curious about everything─ especially death. When someone explained something to me, the first phrase that inevitably came out was ‘but why do we do it this way?’

I loved watching scary movies, so much that I would sneak out into the living room like a ninja behind our couch to watch ‘adults only’ films.

couch

Eventually, my mom and step-dad caught on and gave in. And so the three of us (my brother was very young then and slept in a crib) would sit on Friday nights and watch films. I’m sure my parents wanted to watch it in peace─

but I had questions.

questions

For the longest time, I would ask my parents obsessively about god, heaven, and bad guys. I would listen to the stories in church, but watch movies about the most horrible sides of humanity. My mom displayed both sides equally. So I would get a constant flood of conflicting evidence on human behavior.

And inconclusive data made me upset. Really upset. I liked control and understanding everything.

And so, my tiny villainous brain devised a scheme. Remove the control, and we have a predictable outcome where all other outcomes would cease to screw up my tireless conflicting world views.

Do any of you remember these?

wallheater

They were little 2×3 space heaters. Now hilariously illegal.

What happened to cross my mind at the moment, or what force compelled it, I’ll never know. I simply remember at the time, logic dictated that I do it.

And so, I stared at the wall heater. And it at me.

I wasn’t allowed to touch the heater again.

And my scary movie days? Had to return back to me becoming one with the dark ninja force. At least, until after the coast had cleared.

Kimi no wa Movie Review – A Stunning Visual Masterpiece

Kimi no wa releases in the US this April 7th and it is every bit as amazing as everyone has lead on.

94801

Makoto Shinkai has yet again created a beautiful visual masterpiece. If his name sounds familiar, you may know him as the creator of Voices of a Distant Star or She and Her Cat or more recently in 2011 Children Who Chase Lost Voices

It is my firm belief that anyone can relate to and enjoy this movie, no matter if you are an anime or film fan. I was lucky enough to get a pre-screening and decided to share my experience with all of you.

The story follows the life two young people living in Japan:

Mitsuha from the fictional Japanese countryside town of Itomori.

cr7wp0juiaelmf0

And Taki from the large city of Tokyo.

ogl9k0cd1novoienfkq-o

It begins somewhat confusing as you slowly become aware that Mitsuha and Taki have switched lives. The interesting part of the story, was that it didn’t happen every day─ but rather, every so many days. You get to ride along with each individual as they experience the delicate intricacies of each other’s life.

maxresdefault

At first, they both lay out certain (and most definitely hilarious) rules for each other.

(I don’t care who you are, you will lose your shit at these scenes.)

What starts as both people feeling a sort of general annoyance at this life change, gradually turns into an appreciation for each other, and respect for one another’s lives

Until one day, Taki stops receiving messages from Mitsuha and begins to only wake to his normal, every day life.

Time passes and Taki decides to take a train to the town to discover why Mitsuha has stopped being such an important element in his life.

What he finds, will simply floor you.

Enter the life of Mitsuha and everything that happened within the lost time.

Eventually the two find one another again,  working together to prevent one of the biggest tragedies Japan has seen in a long time.

It is as eloquent as it is brilliant─ written to pull the heart strings as much as provide you with a hearty laugh. It is one of those films that literally takes you on an emotional roller coaster.

46243837b9296c40137e38465418db49

It’s a story of tolerance, acceptance, and walking in someone else’s shoes. It will sweep you into its magic and make you really feel as if you are part of something larger than yourself.

It’s a story of fate.

Do yourself a favor─ Grab a box of tissues, go with your dearest pals or family and experience this amazing film together. I promise you will love it.

I give it a huge 5 out of 5 possible stars.

Weekly Releases and Quick Update Info

So, as most of you have noticed I usually update my comics on Tuesdays. (last week was an exception due to my day job)

But, know that I work diligently each week to bring you laughs, or groaning and shaking of the head.

giphy

What’s in store? Well, as I search for a job that will somehow manage to cover the ever-climbing costs of living in Dallas, I have found my only form of sanity is releasing these comics to all of you.

But, what else?

What else indeed! Last week I ran a poll (which I giggled at myself for only getting 1 vote) But, none-the-less still realized that the one person took time out of their day to click the vote button on Twitter and so I shall make ready the spooky tales that they requested.

winona_ryder

So, in honor of said-mystery-individual, I offer the internet Slenderman in all his glory and fame online─ including his origins, and different variations on this particular Urban Legend.

438fda0f2a921b30787d51c643fa9abf

In addition to this spook-fest, I decided to add a Japanese Urban Legend of my choosing. So, be prepared for a fun-filled audio adventure! I do so adore old radio shows and recording books are something that I simply love. So when combining the two, I like to really put my all into them. These last few shows I’ve done felt a little under-whelming, so

I’m going to make all the sound effects in the new one!

I plan on updating these with images on my YouTube channel as well as adding my own digital art to each. (this girl has a real affinity for the dark side)

giphy-1

Some of my online comics will be dramatic or manga-esque, but most will be for the lulz. So with that, I leave you with this update message:

The creepy audio is coming soon, children, and the Tuesday comic will be up tomorrow as planned.

Horror has a Bad Rep – Is that Merited?

From the sub-genre, to main genre, horror has had some pretty great times─

halloween-1978-3

To downright deplorable moments.

thehappening

But if you look at the genre all together, it really does have a bad reputation. Why is that, and is it merited?

The answer is more complex than you think. My personal favorite are thrillers and shows with thriller/horror like elements. For example, in shows such as Westworld, The Walking Dead, or Game of Thrones, the horror elements are fleshed out─ they’re balanced. But notice how I said that. Elements. The average person does not like to constantly be underestimated with cheap thrills, or jump scares. We like depth, we like just the right amount of complexity without over-thinking the scene.

photo_29089_2

The director and casting director have a tough job. They have to not only convey the entire story within a reasonable amount of time, they have to embody the feeling through a combination of images, background, and good actors. This is a huge over-simplification of the process, but bare with me.

The main reason for disdain with the genre is the director’s focus. Much like the adult industry, horror gets caught up in ‘the money shot’ if you will and wants to creep-out or scare the audience as much as possible. But there is a huge piece of the picture they aren’t seeming to get.

paranormal-activity-4-e1351534064805

Horror fans are changing. We don’t want two dimensional characters as cliche as something you’d see on the CW. (and in my defense, I liked Supernatural so keep your pitchforks at bay.) What does better, time and time again are shows with elements of creepy/unknown because it’s alluring. No one wants to see the whole thing at once. And the whole ‘bad guy coming to get you’ is just over-done. Found footage? C’mon, that died years ago. The problem, I find, is that the whole industry is just outdated.

We live in the information age. If I can pick apart every issue and guess the film’s ending in the first 10-15 minutes of it, there’s a problem. Not everyone has to have that surprise element, or a twist. You don’t have to have a boogie man that just won’t die. Don’t make flimsy characters whose sole purpose is to die. I can’t tell you how frustrated I get with weak/pathetic characters that just stumble around and cry.

“Nope! I’m gonna die. Guess I’ll just walk down this road in a straight path and bawl my pretty eyes out. That’ll work.”

madison-county

Build an atmosphere. Make competent characters that try their hardest and still fail. The Green Room actually came pretty damn close to this, and I enjoyed it. The people weren’t helpless, it felt real. Like it genuinely could happen.

lead_960

Nightcrawler? One of my all-time favs to date. But, I am admittedly a little biased since I love Jake Gyllenhaal. If you haven’t seen this, do yourself a favor─ watch it, like, yesterday.

But what do I know? That’s just my two cents.

Otaru Snow Light Path Festival/Sapporo Snow Festival

This awesome winter festival or , ‘小樽雪あかりの路, Otaru Yuki Akari no Michi’, is a romantic winter destination held every February in Otaru. This lighted path festival lasts 10 days so that it coincides with the Sapporo Snow Festival. This makes it easier for travelers in Hokkaido to visit both festivals on the same trip.

The wintry handmade beauties make you feel as if you are in a dream.

img_0142003

The fallen snow of the town combined with the hand-made snow lights make it a highly sought after destination. With over 500,000 visitors annually, it’s no joke! The spectacular lighted path festival has been around since 1999.  To help contribute to the merriment, many locals display lanterns in front of their shops and homes, adding to the festival spirit.

5758674_otaru-snow-and-light-path-festival_td830191f

The creators’ idea for this festival is this: They want the people visiting to feel calm and easy, to focus on the leisurely nature of the area, the glow of the candlelight, and have time to reflect on themselves. The goal is to make you forget about life, and focus on yourself and the pleasant feelings you get rather than our more hectic day-to-day life. The hope, is that this festival will continue to be a spiritual event rather than a commercially oriented festival.

However, I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

And with the two main areas located within a fifteen minute walk of the train station, travelers can easily take their time and enjoy the town’s atmosphere on foot.

The “Unga Kaijo,” area which is located along 300 meters of the town’s famous canal, is lined with restored warehouses and gas lamps. The canal is covered with small buoys that hold candles. Lining the path beside the water is a row of small snow statues that hold candles. The canal is barely a ten minute walk from Otaru Station along the main road leading from the station.

And if you didn’t love it enough, here’s more of the view.

Between the canal and the train station is the Temiyasen Kaijo area, which stretches for about half a kilometer along the tracks of the abolished Temiyasen railway line.

Otaru is a one day trip from Sapporo, which is  located in Hokkaido. It is 30 minutes from Sapporo. If you are traveling from Tokyo, take the plane to Sapporo and then the train to Otaru. The total trip time takes around 3 – 5 hours.
