Hey guys! I’ll be at Arlingcon this year. It’s a one-day event, family friendly and it’s free! I’ll be presenting on Saturday the 30th from 3:15 – 4:00 p.m. Details … Continue reading Arlingcon 2018 – June 30th – Japanese vs. American Horror Comics!

You can catch me live on Twitch Tuesday – Sunday from 12:00 p.m. – 7 p.m. CST. here. The only change in schedule will happen every other weekend and those days will be added to my calendar under the event’s panels on my page. (they happen from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. instead)
Also in the pipeline is Vengeance part 3 (the conclusion to the first 2. They can be found here.)
So what’s coming next?
Well, my friends, we are going to have a live podcast with all of you about Japanese vs. American urban legends and mythos. You all voted, and I’m delivering. Be prepared for a fun day of spooky and odd stories for our When East Meets West segments this year. You can find previous podcasts here. I typically do a few podcasts a year over the supernatural, East vs. West culture, and mythos. Namely, things that go bump in the night and some odd affairs that none of us think about in our day-to-day lives.
I plan on organizing a live audiobook reading but haven’t gotten all of that ready just yet, so I’ll spare you the details. 😉 Just know I’m planning a few special live events this year.
If you are a writer or a new writer, you may want to check out my Wednesday lunch podcast covering Writer Workshops every Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. This coming Wednesday is how to become self-published and steps to take to prepare and be a success. If you would rather catch them after the fact, I also place them on YouTube later that day or the following day.
We finally finished The Evil Within 2 and now it’s time to move forward! Next on my list is NieR Automata. I know I’m late to the game, but man I am so hyped about this. I try and dedicate at least one game as an alternative to Fortnite PvE (Save the World). I play this mostly all week (and during my off time, let’s be honest) but I love many different games, especially ones with decent stories) and this one has really caught my eye. I’ll be starting this coming Sunday at 12:00 p.m. CST. Come hang out and let’s play it together.
I made it, I did it, and whew are conventions hard on me! For those that aren’t aware, I am what’s known high-functioning autistic. (Formerly known as Asperger) Large, crowded events really aren’t my thing. But, strangely enough, I love presentations. For reasons even unknown to me, I’ve enjoyed doing presentations since I was a kiddo. Especially when I get to talk about the things I love. Like scary, spooky things that go bump in the night.
After years of CBT, I’m able to make it through walking around but these events have always felt alien to me and extremely uncomfortable. The only way I can truly be happy is behind a camera, or up on stage. Two extremely odd things for most people─ but somehow, I’m one with the goat and much enjoy sitting in high places above people as I talk about my childhood loves.
I’ll have con footage up soon, and show all the great people I saw at this year’s event. In all honesty, A-Fest has been one of my all-time favorite shows and still continues to be. It was very well coordinated, and the staff was on top of things and quick to help and answer any questions that I had.
Book two is finally here! Get ready for its October release in a big way. I had a few people at the convention ask when book two would finally be out and I will have an official release date this week. For those that aren’t aware, Hell’s Gate is a series comprised of three books. You can see my interview covering my adventures here:
Suffice it to say, if you like J-Fashion, J-Culture, Urban Legends and Mythology mixed in with adventures, this is your cup of tea. It is what is known as a Dark Fantasy and because of my love for genre-bending, it has horror elements and urban legends.
Enjoy, my friends and as always, stay creepy. More announcements on HG coming soon.
One of my all-time fav conventions is nearly here! Anime Fest (August 17th – 20th) has hands-down been one of my favorites since I started attending them some years ago. I am extremely biased when it comes to these sort of events, however, because I’ve always preferred smaller crowds. Granted, the fact that AnimeFest is now being hosted near my home in the Sheraton Hotel certainly means they’ve grown exponentially.
And have you SEEN the guest line up for this year? If you haven’t, seriously go look it up.
Unfortunately, for our team at Dusk Publishing, we weren’t able to snag a table this year at the event─ But, we are doing panels. And a panel I have planned oh hohoho~~
If you aren’t currently watching my Live Events, or are just kind of tuning in, I do live writing panels and stories for DuskLive on FB from 2p.m. – 2:30 p.m. These usually don’t go for more than a couple of minutes, but I like to stay on the safe side, just in case we have people asking questions! Once these live events are finished, I post them on all of my social media pages. So if you can’t attend, no worries─ they are always posted afterward. (like the one this past Sunday about a scary experience I had while I was in Japan doing research for the Hell’s Gate book series.)
For the AnimeFest panel, you can expect to have all my usual bizarre Japanese culture and Urban Legends content that you can find on Soundcloud (now slowly being added to my YouTube channel) and on my Livestream events. This year, I’ll be covering modern Japanese urban legends and where they come from and also talking about some ancient Japanese urban legends. We’ll all sit and reminisce as I talk about my experiences from Japan (interesting, bizarre─ and the everyday life as a ‘normal’ Japanese citizen)
The panel will be held on Thursday, August 17th from 5 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Panel 4.
For this panel, I’ll have copies of Hell’s Gate readily available, or you can bring your own for signing!
If you aren’t aware, you can actually enter to win a free copy of Hell’s Gate in our contest. (Hurry, it’s only running until 7/27/17!)
This next Sunday, (July 30th) I’ll be covering ways to combat writer’s block and techniques that I use to help. See you guys there!
The day has come! This week is the release of the fabled Hell’s Gate, book one in the series. Book two is scheduled for release in October of this year.
If you attended Akon28 you probably passed by our booth and saw the pre-order table. Well, it’s finally here and you will be getting that sent out to you next week! For those of you that couldn’t attend, you can still get the pre-order swag. Pre-ordering is opening up today, and will go until tomorrow, June 22nd at 11:59 p.m.
The pre-order will get you:
- an artbook/book companion with language details and meanings to help you understand Japanese culture.
- A poster designed by me
- And of course, the star of the show─ the novel!
To be clear, this is just the pre-order for the specialty items that come with this online offer. (as in orders I take to send off personally) It’s a limited edition order that has to first arrive at my house, and then I sign and send them off.
This is for my own personal calculation so that I know how many specialty items to make. If I garner enough interest, then I’ll add it on Amazon as an option.
No payments will be taken at this time, and you will be charged when you order through Amazon for secure payment.
The pre-order is now closed. Thanks to everyone that pre-ordered!
Thanks to everyone that participated in my online twitter campaign. I had a blast interacting with all of you and letting the story grow each day. 🙂
Well, it happened─ I am officially signed on as a published creator at Dusk Publishing! I am so beyond excited to be joining this innovative and progressive company. I signed … Continue reading Akon 28 and Signing Announcements

Today was my drawing for the contest winner. Lucky numbers 27 and 13 had it! See below video for more details on what is to come this week.
On Tuesday, February 14th, I will be releasing my podcast. It will be covering from the west:
Slenderman and NoEnd House
And from the East:
I’ll go into the story, and then muse over the urban legends and their roots. If you’re a fan of the creepy, like me, you won’t want to miss it! Since this week, I’m releasing my podcast on Tuesday, my normal Tuesday comic will be delayed by one week, but will be back on track next Tuesday, the 21st.
I called to a vote last week on which people would want to see, and at just 2 votes higher, the Manga-style comedy comic panel won for next Tuesday. I can’t wait to draw this, it was such a joy to hear from all of you. Thanks for all who voted and congrats on this month’s winner!
Monday’s Japanese Blog Recipe (2/13) – I originally set it for today, but completely spaced that I was doing the drawing today and had to delay it by one day. (sorry guys!)
Have someone that you are going to make valentine’s treats for? Check back in tomorrow as I cover the history of Valentine’s day and White Day in Japan. Two holidays that I celebrate. Stay tuned, kiddos. It’ll be a week full of sugary sweet and creepy delights. ❤
Hey guys! This is just a brief update on yesterday and today. Normally, I release a comic every Tuesday. As most of you know, I have a day job like everyone else.
Which means my days can go from busy to:
When you run a company, and work a day job (plus adding a kiddo to the mix 2-4 days a week) let’s just say my life is not lacking excitement.
Yesterday was a day of nightmares.
Finally, after trudging home at 10 p.m. (having worked at my job which currently has me as Marketing Director/CSR/Web Designer) I finally was able to try and finish my comic. Then, the realization hit me. I’d left my file at work and forgot to save it on G-Drive.
Needless to say, (tl;dr) I’ll have it up today.
Check out my poll on twitter today @chrystal_Annecd at noon─
You all get to vote what my next Urban Legend podcast will be over. :3
Happy thoughts, children. ❤
A winter wonderland, in Japan.
